1. RS485 is a serial communication link layer protocol based on differential signal transmission. It resolves the limitation of the RS-232 protocols short transmission distance (15 m) and is a widely adopted link layer protocol for long-distance data communication in industrial environments. Because it utilizes a single twisted pair to transmit differential signals, it operates in half-duplex mode, requiring state switching between receiving and transmitting.
